Oscars Night With an NBA Twist: Adam Sandler’s Sudden “Chalamet” Has a New York Knicks Connection You Probably Didn’t Know About

Oscars night featured Conan O'Brien hosting and a memorable bit with Adam Sandler and Timothée Chalamet, highlighting their long-standing friendship over their shared love of basketball. Both actors have frequently attended Knicks games and even played pickup games together recently.

Oscars night this year was one of the better ones from the past few years. With Conan O'Brian hosting the show, there were some good laughs throughout. But the bit with Conan and Adam Sandler was quite possibly the best part of the show. And the end of the bit, where Sandler left in a flurry of his shorts, hoodie, and a "Chalamet," well... that was just the perfect end to it. But what many might not know is that Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler have been friendly for years, and have hung out with each other quite a lot over the years.

Adam Sandler’s "Chalamet" might have surprised fans, but there’s a connection

Adam Sandler and Timothée Chalamet's friendship is not that old, but it's not brand new either. They have hung out quite a lot in the last few years, and that has a lot to do with the New York Knicks. Yes, it's a basketball connection that many might not have known about, but both Sandler and Chalamet are avid basketball fans, and both love the Knicks.

Both actors have also been to countless games over the years, being spotted courtside many times. And in recent years, the two have started playing with each other when they have time. Did you know that the two of them competed against each other in a pickup game back in July 2023? Sure enough, they were seen playing ball on a hot summer day in New York City. Adam Sandler has been yelling out Chalamet inside the basketball court for a few years now, probably, and just wanted to do that again on Oscar night.

Timothée Chalamet recently got a signed jersey from his favorite team

Timothée Chalamet is a New Yorker through and through. So it's not that big a surprise that he is a New York Knicks fan. And his fanboy days have not been in vain, as he recently got himself a signed Knicks jersey from Karl-Anthony Towns, the team's new Center man. The duo even clicked a photo afterward. This happened after the Knicks won a home game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Maybe we will get to see Chalamet and Sandler together out for a Knicks game soon. Or the younger actor could take up on Sandler's proposal and meet him up for a 5-v-5 with some others now that the Oscars are done for the year. As for their favorite team, the New York Knicks are the 3rd seed on the Eastern Conference table with a 40-20 run. They won against the Miami Heat on March 2 and will be playing the Golden State Warriors next in an East-West match on March 4.
