Pakistan's Economic Affairs Division faced a social media controversy after a post, later claimed to be a hack, appealed for international loans amid escalating tensions with India. This occurred following India's "Operation Sindoor" in response to a terrorist attack, leading to retaliatory strikes and market instability, with the Karachi Stock Exchange plummeting.

On May 8-9, 2025, Pakistan's armed forces initiated multiple drone and munition attacks along the western border, accompanied by ceasefire violations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army effectively repulsed these attacks, responding firmly with advanced weaponry and air defense systems. India also used S-400 missile systems to neutralize incoming threats.

Tensions have escalated along the western border as the Indian Army released footage of a Pakistani drone being shot down. This action follows a major assault by Pakistani Armed Forces involving drones, missiles, and ceasefire violations across Jammu and Kashmir. Indian forces repulsed the attacks, responding with force after Operation Sindoor targeted terror camps in retaliation for a prior attack.

X (formerly Twitter) has received orders from the Indian government to block over 8,000 accounts, including those of international news organizations and prominent users, citing violations of local laws. X has complied by withholding the accounts in India but disagrees with the government's demands, viewing it as censorship and a violation of free speech.

Following heightened security concerns and recent drone attacks along the border, Maharashtra has issued 'shoot to kill' orders for unauthorized entries into offshore defense zones. The Fisheries Department urgently warned coastal fishermen to avoid oil rigs and restricted areas, providing no-fishing coordinates.

The players and spectators were asked to evacuate the venue immediately and now the Indian cricket board has planned a special train to get the players, support staff and broadcast crew to safe zone.
