The iconic '90s crime show CID is back in the headlines, and for good reason.
Shivaji Satam, who has immortalized the role of
ACP Pradyuman for decades, has officially announced that he’s taking a break from the show. In a recent conversation with
Bombay Times, Satam confirmed that his character’s journey will soon come to an end. According to reports, ACP Pradyuman will exit the series in a dramatic twist, being killed in a bomb blast.
This development has sparked a wave of speculation, especially about who might step into the shoes of the legendary character. Initially, rumors suggested that actor
Parth Samthaan was set to replace Satam. However, fans can breathe easy, Parth won’t be replacing ACP Pradyuman. Instead, he’s joining the CID universe as an entirely new character: ACP Anshuman.
The news has excited longtime viewers, especially as behind-the-scenes shots of Parth filming with the cast have started surfacing online. Parth, best known for his roles in
Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan and Kasautii Zindagii Kay, is making his much-anticipated return to television with CID. Sharing his thoughts with SBS, he admitted to growing up watching the show and feels honored, and a bit nervous stepping into such a legacy. He acknowledged the responsibility that comes with playing a young ACP in a show steeped in nostalgia.
Interestingly, Parth hints at some drama ahead, suggesting that senior officers Daya (
Dayanand Shetty) and Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava) might not be too quick to follow the new ACP’s orders. So, viewers can expect some internal team conflict in the coming episodes.
CID, which returned with a fresh season on December 21, 2024, continues to star Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava, Sparsh Khanchandani, Hrishikesh Pandey, and others in key roles.
