Saath Nibhaana Saathiya fame Lovey Sasan on International Women’s Day: My portrayal of Paridhi honoured the role of stepmother in the society
Actress Lovey Sasan, who is known for playing the role of Paridhi in household drama Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, talks about bringing a change in society with her portrayal. On International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8th each year to honour the remarkable contributions of women worldwide, the actress feels women around the world have made invaluable contributions to society.
She said, "It is a day to honour the courage and resilience of women who have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations. From women fighting for equal rights in the 20th century to modern-day women who continue to challenge norms, this day symbolises the strength and determination of women across the world."
She continued, "Gender equality is not just about ensuring that women and men have the same rights - it is about creating a fair and just society for all. When women and men have equal opportunities in education, work, and life, the world becomes a better place for everyone. The day reminds us that these challenges are not things of the past as they are present issues that require action. We are fighting and improving but still a long way to go."
Lovey, further mentioned how her role helped in educating the society about the old school concept of a stepmother.
She added, "I'm glad that I got the opportunity to play a step mother, Paridhi in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. I'm thankful to the writers who decided to keep my role positive. I feel when society looks or talks about stepmothers, they're described as cruel. But I got a chance to break the myth and influence that she's as beautiful as the real mother. On women's day, I feel my role describes the beauty of a woman who can raise an infant with love and care, giving up her own priorities. It was educating the society with the concept of stepmother and bringing them out of the old school concepts."
She concluded adding, "Being a mother of two sons, I see the responsibility to teach them to always respect a woman and see them equal to themselves. I feel when everyone is involved in the movement for equality, progress is faster and more meaningful."

Lovey is known for featuring in shows like Bade Ache Lagte Hain, Kya Huaa Tera Vaada, Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai... Ajab Sa Risk Hai among others.
