Seth Rogen’s latest comedy series, The Studio, is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on March 26, 2025. The show, a satirical take on Hollywood, features an impressive cast and a lineup of celebrity guest appearances.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Studio follows Rogen’s character, Matt Remick, who becomes the head of a fictional movie company called Continental Studios. As the film industry struggles to stay relevant, Matt and his team of executives navigate internal conflicts, demanding artists, and corporate pressure while trying to make great films.
The show has a star-studded cast, including Ike Barinholtz, Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Chase Sui Wonders. Additionally, it features guest appearances by Hollywood legends like Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, Ice Cube, Zoë Kravitz, Zac Efron, Adam Scott, Anthony Mackie, Steve Buscemi, Greta Lee, and even Netflix’s Ted Sarandos.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at SXSW, Rogen explained that the idea for The Studio came to him while working on The Fabelmans. He shared that he was inspired by how personal Steven Spielberg’s film was and wanted to create something similar. He also cited The Larry Sanders Show as a major influence, calling it a defining Hollywood satire of its time. Rogen hoped that The Studio would serve as the ultimate industry satire for today’s era.
In the trailer for the show, Rogen’s character expresses his frustration with the pressures of the film business, saying, “Being the head of Continental is the only job I’ve ever wanted. I got into all of this because I love movies, but now I have this fear that my job is to ruin them.”
