Actor Sunny Singh has addressed the ongoing comparisons between his upcoming film The Bhootnii and the popular horror-comedy franchise Stree, following the recent release of 'The Bhootnii's trailer. Although both films belong to the same genre, Singh clarified that their narratives stand apart.
In a conversation with India Today, Sunny remarked that it is natural for people to feel both films have similarities, as they fall under the same genre. “However, that was Raj and Shraddha’s (Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor) film, this is ours,” he shared. He also added that such comparisons occur more often in romantic comedies. “We shot our film in 2022 when Stree 2 wasn’t that huge. When it comes to horror comedies, romance is the common factor, and even when the world is the same, the stories are different. And that’s what makes the difference,” the actor stated.

Singh shared that The Bhootnii is designed to evoke both fear and laughter. He also believes the film will resonate particularly well with younger viewers. Reflecting on the genre’s rise in popularity, the Adipurush actor further added that he had always wanted to do a film in this genre, and is grateful for the opportunity.

When discussing the filming process and the creative efforts behind the project, Sunny noted how the team discovered humour embedded within the script itself. The actor revealed that comedy wasn’t initially on his radar—he wanted to explore action, then romance, and only later comedy.
Starring Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, and Palak Tiwari in key roles, The Bhootnii is scheduled to hit theatres on April 18.
