According to the post by Overwatch, the Stadium Mode arrives in the game on April 22, 2025, which is only a week away. It is set to be a permanent game mode, and players will be competing in a best-of-7, round-based play.
An interesting element of the mode is that you will have the option to purchase upgrade items and make your heroes even better. Also, as mentioned above, the third-person camera is set to make its way into Overwatch 2. At the time of launch, the Stadium mode is set to feature 17 heroes, and more will be added every season.
In a match, you will have to choose the Hero that you want to play, with a team’s composition having a maximum of 1 Tank, 2 Damage, and 2 Support. After each round, you may then purchase the abilities and items to upgrade the Hero by using the Stadium Cash. At the start of the first, third, fifth, and seventh rounds, additional powers will be provided for free.

5 vs 5 strategic gameplay
  • Each match features 5vs5 combat in the all-new maps and game modes.
Role queue only
  • 1 Tank, 2 Damage, and 2 Support allowed in each map.
Play to earn Stadium Cash
  • You start with 3500 Stadium Cash, and you’ll further earn it in the match based on your performance. You can then use it to purchase the upgrades.
Buy items in the Armory and Modify your Hero with Powers
  • By using the Stadium Cash, you can either buy items or powers. Items are basically power-ups to the Hero’s weapons, abilities, and more, whereas Powers are transformative modifiers, granting unique passives, and even whole new abilities.
Best of Seven Rounds wins
  • The first team to secure 4 rounds will win.
Compete in 3 Game Modes
  • Within Overwatch 2’s Stadium Mode, there will be three internal modes: Push, Control, and Clash.
New Ranked Leagues and earn rewards as you Rank Up
  • Stadium Mode will feature its own Ranked Leagues, and you will be able to earn special rewards as you climb through the ranks. The ranks are: Rookies, Novice, Contender, Elite, Pro, All-Star, and Legend.
New Third Person View
  • The major highlight is the Third Person View, allowing you to get the classic Overwatch 2 experience in TPP.
