Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran mourn victims of Pahalgam terror attack: “No cause can justify this”

Malayalam cinema stars Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran have expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the brutal assault in Pahalgam that left at least 26 dead and several others injured, which is termed as one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir since 2019.

Reacting to the horrifying incident, actor Mohanlal took to Twitter with a heartfelt message: “My heart goes out to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. It is devastating to witness such cruelty. No cause can ever justify the taking of innocent lives. To the grieving families, your sorrow is beyond words. Please know that you are not alone. The entire nation stands with you in mourning. Let us hold on to each other a little tighter and never let go of the hope that peace will prevail even in the face of darkness.” The Tweet was soon flooded with comments. One comment read, “Such a heartbreaking tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. May we all continue to stand united for peace and justice.”

Director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran also voiced his anguish via Instagram Stories, writing: “Heartbroken and angry at what happened at Pahalgam! Thoughts and prayers with the families of the victims and really hope those responsible are brought to justice ASAP.”

Shocking incident

According to Hindustan Times on Tuesday (April 22), terrorists opened fire at Baisaran near Pahalgam, a well-known tourist destination in the Anantnag district, targeting a group of holidayers. The attack, reportedly claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF)—a proxy outfit for the Lashkar-e-Taiba—has sent shockwaves across the nation. Most of the victims were tourists from other states who had come to enjoy the scenic summer season in Kashmir.
