The OTT has officially renewed 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' for a third season, nearly a year ahead of the highly anticipated Season 2 premiere.
According to Variety, the upcoming season will be based on Rick Riordan's novel 'The Titan's Curse', marking the next chapter in Percy's adventure.
The announcement was made by Disney Branded Television and 20th Television, confirming their commitment to expanding the hit fantasy series.
Season 2, which wrapped production in Vancouver, is scheduled to debut in December 2025, though an exact premiere date is yet to be announced.
Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, expressed enthusiasm for the show's success.
"From the moment 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' debuted, it was clear this series had struck a chord with fans of all ages. With Season 2 set to premiere this December, we're thrilled to announce that Percy's journey will continue with a third season," she was quoted as saying by Variety.
"Huge thanks to our incredible cast and creative team, our partners at 20th Television, and our visionary and talented producers who continue to bring Rick Riordan's world to life with such depth and imagination," Davis added.
Series creator Rick Riordan also shared his excitement, highlighting the introduction of new characters in the upcoming season.
"This third season will be new territory for the screen, bringing fan favorites like the Hunters of Artemis and Nico di Angelo to life for the first time. It's a huge sign of commitment from Disney and speaks volumes about the enthusiasm with which the fandom has embraced the TV show. Thank you, demigods worldwide!," Rick Riordan said, as per Variety.
The renewal comes as no surprise given the strong performance of the first season.
According to Variety, Percy Jackson and the Olympians was among the top five most-watched original streaming series during its debut in December 2023.
Additionally, Disney reported 13.3 million views for the first episode within the first six days on Disney+ and Hulu.
Season 2 will see the return of Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn, and Daniel Diemer in lead roles.
The show, co-created by Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, is executive produced by Dan Shotz, Rebecca Riordan, Craig Silverstein, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, Jeremy Bell, D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler, and Sarah Watson.
