Veteran scriptwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar has expressed his admiration for Pakistani singer Moazzam Ali Khan and invited him to sing a few songs. Akhtar discovered Khan's captivating performance on social media, where many noted his vocal similarity to the late ghazal legend Jagjit Singh.
On Friday, Javed shared a post on X, expressing his admiration for Moazzam Ali Khan's version of Hemant Kumar's iconic song 'Yeh Nain Dare Dare' from the 1964 film 'Kohraa'.
"Just now I watched a gentleman Muazzam saheb on youtube singing 'yeh nain deray deray'. Could he please contact me. I will be thankful if he sings a few songs for us," the lyricist wrote.
Moazzam frequently posts his singing videos on social media platforms, where he has gained a significant following, including lakhs of followers on Instagram. In addition to singing, Khan is also an actor and voice-over artist, showcasing his diverse talents online.
Meanwhile, Javed is the son of Urdu poet Jan Nisar Akhtar and Safia Akhtar, a singer and writer. Akhtar rose to fame as part of the Salim-Javed duo, penning iconic films like 'Zanjeer', 'Deewar', and 'Sholay'. He has received numerous awards, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, and has been honoured with five National Film Awards. Akhtar was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2010 to 2016. His work as a lyricist has been widely acclaimed, earning him multiple awards.
