AHMEDABAD: A 30-year-old Vatva resident was brutally murdered in the locality in the early hours of Sunday over an alleged long-standing feud over a parking spot in Lal Darwaja area.
The victim, Mohammad Javed Patel, an autorickshaw driver, succumbed to multiple stab injuries during treatment at LG Hospital in Maninagar. An FIR was registered at Vatva police station against four persons, including the main accused, Jamir Shaikh, following a complaint filed by Javed's elder brother, Mohammad Junaid Patel.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around 2am near the Char Maliya area.
Javed earlier left a family wedding around 10pm, saying he was going on duty, and took his father's scooter. Hours later, the family received a distress call from a woman claiming that Javed had been attacked and was being rushed to hospital.
At LG Hospital, Javed's wife, Meherunisha Shaikh told Junaid that Jamir, a street vendor, had a long-standing dispute with Javed over autorickshaw parking. She said Jamir had earlier threatened her husband over Instagram video calls.
On Sunday night, Jamir allegedly called Javed to Char Maliya and, along with his brother Zafar, father Kasam, and sister-in-law Rashida, assaulted him. Jamir allegedly stabbed Javed in the thighs, while the others assaulted him.
Javed was rushed to LG Hospital by Meherunisha but died at 8.50am due to excessive bleeding. Police have registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against Jamir and his family members. Inspector Pravina Jhala that all four accused have been arrested.
