Jabalpur: In a bizarre theft, two young men on a scooter stole a half-kilo box of rasgullas, and two packets of gutkha worth Rs 165 from a bakery in Sihora, police said on Monday.
The shopkeeper reported the theft of the rasgullas to the police station. Based on CCTV footage, the police registered a case and took it under investigation.
According to information received from Sihora police station in charge Vipin Bihari Singh, Sheela Vishwakarma owns a bakery shop in Ward No. 8. On the afternoon of April 24, the shop owner's son was present in the shop. During this time, two young men arrived on a scooter with their faces covered.
One of them entered the shop and stole a box of rasgullas. The shop owner's son went to the police station the next day with the CCTV footage to report the theft.
According to the police station in-charge, the shop owner suspects Ashutosh Thakur. Additionally, the accused also took two packets of gutkha without making an online payment. The total value of the stolen rasgullas and gutkha is Rs 165.
The accused's image is not clear in the CCTV footage. Notably, thefts under Rs 5,000 do not fall under the category of a cognizable offence.
