GURDASPUR: Hours after the launch of Operation Sindoor, India halted the day-long pilgrimage to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, citing security concerns for pilgrims. The decision follows heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.Official sources said on Wednesday that 490 pilgrims were registered to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib via the Kartarpur Corridor from the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district.However, only 170 pilgrims arrived.“In light of the current situation between India and Pakistan, we briefed the pilgrims and advised them to postpone their travel plans,” an ICP official stated. Authorities have not announced when the Kartarpur Corridor pilgrimage will resume.

Meanwhile, all flight operations — including commercial, domestic, and international — have been suspended at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. The district administrations of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot have also ordered the closure of educational institutions in response to the ongoing tensions.
