NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports regarding a sexual harassment case filed against Pastor Bajinder Singh in Punjab’s Jalandhar district.
According to police, a case has been registered against the pastor, following a woman’s complaint alleging that he sexually harassed her.
The complainant stated that she and her parents had been visiting the church since October 2017. During this time, Singh took her mobile number and began sending her messages.
She claimed she was afraid of him and refrained from informing her parents. From 2022, she alleged that Singh would call her to sit alone in a cabin inside the church on Sundays, where he reportedly hugged and touched her inappropriately.
Singh has a significant social media presence, with his content frequently appearing in YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels. Over the months, several celebrities, including actors Chunky Pandey and Aditya Pancholi, have endorsed him, according to news agency PTI.
Police have booked Singh under Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
