Panaji: Police on Wednesday apprehended the second key accused in connection with an alleged
human trafficking racket involving foreign nationals. Crime branch SP Rahul Gupta said that on March 3, a Kenyan lodged a complaint against Nancy King’ori, also known as Alian, another Kenyan, for forcing her into prostitution and living on her earnings.
An offence was registered against King’ori. During the investigation, King’ori was traced to Bengaluru and later arrested. Gupta said she is currently in judicial custody. “The said accused woman is the kingpin of human trafficking,” Gupta said.
The complainant was brought by the accused from Kenya with the promise of a job in the hotel industry. However, upon reaching India, the accused woman took her passport away and forced her into prostitution.
King’ori gave one UPI ID/scanner to the victim for accepting payment for prostitution activities from her customers. The details of the UPI ID/scanner were obtained, and it was revealed that the account linked to the UPI ID/scanner is registered in the name of Zohair Ahmed Khalidi, a resident of Gulbarga, Karnataka, Gupta said.
“A team was sent to Karnataka to locate Khalidi. He was apprehended in Bengaluru, and the team is on the way to Goa,” Gupta said. “He is suspected to be part of a gang of traffickers of foreigners in India.”
