Silchar: A team of the
Railway Protection Force (RPF) stationed at Silchar, under the Lumding division of NF Railway, recovered and rescued 450 live frogs during a drive at Silchar railway station.
An NFR spokesman on Sunday said officials discovered three bags lying unattended near Platform 1. Each bag was found to contain 150 live frogs, totalling 450 frogs.
Despite efforts, no individual came forward to claim the bags. The team ensured the safe transfer of the rescued frogs to the custody of divisional forest officer, Barak Valley wildlife division for rehabilitation and further action.
"This incident highlights the role of RPF in safeguarding not only the passengers and railway property but also in contributing to the protection of wildlife and the environment," the spokesman added.
