Belagavi: It is appropriate to call for a special legislature session to discuss the Socio-Economic and Educational Survey Report, said Public Works Department Minister
Satish Jarkiholi. It would be good if a platform is provided to discuss the report openly, he said, speaking to the media persons here on Tuesday.
"If there are doubts or allegations about the survey statistics or its study, let them be discussed in the Assembly itself. Once a comprehensive discussion is held, no one will have any lingering doubts. Let the people of the state also become aware of it," he opined.
Responding to deputy CM DK Shivakumar holding a meeting of Vokkaliga MLAs, he said, "DK Shivakumar is a leader of the Vokkaliga community. So if he conducts a meeting and discusses the report, what is wrong with that?"
Commenting about the BJP and JD(S) Janaakrosha Yatre, the minister noted, "It is the central govt that has increased the prices of petrol, diesel, gas, and many other items. In such a situation, to hold a Janaakrosha Yatre against our govt — how is it justified?" he questioned. Satish Jarkiholi sarcastically said that if the BJP wants to hold protests, it should do so against the central govt.
The minister also informed that CM Siddaramaiah had written a letter to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, requesting the release of water from the Koyna reservoir into the Krishna River to resolve the drinking water issue in the border areas of Karnataka.
