Phule’s statue to come up on Necklace Road

Hyderabad: The Congress govt decided to install a statue of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on Necklace Road. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy, along with deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka and others, visited the proposed site for the statue's installation on Friday.
The CM directed the officials to survey the site and submit a report with a detailed plan, stressing that the design should be prepared in a manner to avoid any traffic problems in the future.
CM also paid floral tributes to Phule on his birth anniversary at Phule's statue in Amberpet. He called upon the people to follow Phule's ideals and described his fight against caste discrimination as a guiding force.
The decision assumes significance given the recent day-long hunger strike by BRS MLC Kavitha, who demanded the installation of Phule's statue in the Assembly. tnn
