Heatwave revives in state, Barmer hottest
Jaipur: Heatwave conditions revived in Rajasthan Tuesday, mostly affecting western parts of the state due to active northerly winds. Most places in the state witnessed maximum temperatures almost four degrees above the normal notch. Barmer remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 45.5 degrees Celsius was recorded, the Met reports said.
Attributing the revival of the heatwave conditions to the active northerly winds and the vanishing of the western disturbances, the Met office said that heatwave conditions would further aggravate in the state in the coming days.
People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warmer morning when a minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius was recorded. It was followed by a comparatively warmer afternoon when a maximum temperature of 38.4 degrees Celsius was recorded.
People in Jaipur are using various measures to beat the heat, varying from carrying glucose and electrolytes-laced water to their offices to keeping themselves hydrated. In the afternoon, the roads are almost empty as people confine themselves to their offices or homes. In the coming days, Jaipur's maximum temperature is expected to be above 40 degrees Celsius.
Barmer was followed by Jaisalmer where a maximum temperature of 45 degrees was recorded, Phalodi 44.4, Chittorgarh 43.1, Jalore 42.4, Sriganganagar 42.3, Jodhpur 42.2, Churu 41.4, Dungarpur 40.9, Kota 40.5, Sirohi 40.4, Udaipur 40.2 and 40.1 Nagaur.
The Met office, in its forecast, said that mercury is likely to take an upward swing further, and heatwave conditions are likely to aggravate in the state, especially in western Rajasthan.
