Min urges all to follow Ambedkar’s ideals, give back to society
Lucknow: Babasaheb always advocated to ‘give back to the society', hence, everyone should do a personal audit to know whether we gave anything to society or not, said minister of state (Independent charge) Asim Arun during Ambedkar Jayanti and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University's foundation day celebrations held at the campus on Monday.
He said, "Look around and see who you can help. If not by yourself, then try and make govt schemes reach the underprivileged people around." Arun emphasised how CM Yogi Adityanath's ‘zero poverty' and CM Yuva schemes help eradicate poverty and make people self-employed.
"Our state was struggling with acute poverty as the schemes of the previous govt didn't work well. CM Yogi came up with a scheme ‘zero poverty' under which in every village, 15-25 families are being identified that are living in acute poverty and will help them come out of poverty by providing them with home, food and employment opportunities," Arun said.
He mentioned that in the CM Yuva scheme, the state govt is supporting the business dreams of the youth. This scheme aims to promote self-employment by providing financial assistance to young entrepreneurs, including loans and non-repayable grants, to help them establish micro-units.
MP from Bulandshahr, Bhola Singh said, "Babasaheb didn't receive the respect he deserved for his remarkable contribution. We should contemplate why there was such a delay in awarding him Bharat Ratna."
"Political parties didn't accord him the honour he deserved. It was the Bharatiya Janata Party and our former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who requested the then PM VP Singh to award him a Bharat Ratna," he said.
Singh said it was PM Narendra Modi's initiative through which sites related to Babasaheb were developed as ‘Panch Teerth', and Dr Ambedkar National Memorial was established with the efforts of the present govt. "Babasaheb said there is no use of education if it can't eliminate superstition and darkness in society. Babasaheb always advocated raising one's voice against injustice, becoming independent and ensuring equality and social justice in society. We should take inspiration from the life and works of Babasaheb," he added.
