Lucknow: Four days after the hit-and-run case in Talkatora, in which a woman died and her son suffered leg fracture, the police recovered the BMW car involved in the accident abandoned near fire station in Hazratganj.
"Our informers tipped us off about the car being parked near the boundary wall of the fire station in Hazratganj. The police reached the spot and found the vehicle," DCP, West, Vishwajeet Srivastava said.
He said that despite questioning people nearby, no information was received about the car driver.
"Since this vehicle is related to the hit-and-run case of Talkatora and required for technical inspection, it was kept safely on Talkatora police station premises," he said.
He added that the vehicle was registered in the name of a company in Gurugram, and the police were actively searching for its driver.
The accident took place on April 21 near MIS crossing of Talkatora. According to the deceased woman's son, Akash Lodhi of Sheikhpur, Alamnagar Road, his elder brother Subhash Lodhi, along with their mother Rajrani (60), were returning on a motorcycle after attending a marriage ceremony.
When they were near a help centre run by the police at the taxi stand road, a speeding BMW (registration number HR 26CF 3124) hit their motorcycle. Subhash sustained serious injuries in this accident, due to which he fell unconscious.
Tragically, Rajrani got stuck in the wheel of the BMW car and was dragged for about 600m because of which she died on the spot.
