Hyderabad: AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, along with TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, on Wednesday laid out a three-pronged strategy for leaders to strengthen the party at the grassroots level, in preparation for the panchayat and municipal elections later this year as well as for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in 2028 and 2029 respectively.
In line with the road map, the party leadership appointed two observers for each district, directing them to hold meetings at the village, mandal, bloc, and district levels. The aim is to identify hardworking and loyal Congress workers who will be included in the village, mandal, bloc, and district-level committees of the Congress.
The district in charge ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs, and important leaders should be invited to the meetings for the selection of district Congress committee presidents. These presidents will, in turn, be invited by the AICC when finalising candidates for the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
“This was the decision taken in the AICC and CWC meetings held in Gujarat recently, and we will follow the model in letter and spirit. Take the Congress govt achievements like 42% BC quota, SC categorisation, caste survey, and welfare schemes being implemented to the people more efficiently. The Congress is in power today in the state because of the party workers,” Meenakshi told the party leaders, including MPs and MLCs, at a meeting in Gandhi Bhavan.
Congress MLA and cabinet aspirant Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy called on Meenakshi and said it was a courtesy call. He clarified that he did not hold any grudge against K Jana Reddy. "I only said that Jana Reddy should not have written to the AICC to consider giving cabinet berths to MLAs, MLCs from Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts," he said.
Advisor to the CM, Vem Narender Reddy said panchayat elections would be held soon.
