Adopt Ambedkar’s principles for equitable society, says Mundian
Ludhiana: The 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar was commemorated by the Ludhiana district administration at a private university on Monday. Punjab Cabinet minister Hardeep Singh Mundian was the chief guest on the occasion. He paid rich tributes to Baba Saheb, praising his contributions to India's social and constitutional framework. He urged the citizens to adopt Dr Ambedkar's thoughts and principles for an equitable society.
In his address, Mundian emphasised that Baba Saheb's life represented hope, resilience, and determination. He stated, "Baba Sahib's ideals of equality, justice, and education are the foundations of an inclusive society." The minister called for collective action to uphold these principles, highlighting their essential role in fostering unity and progress in today's world.
Mundian also underscored the Punjab govt's commitment under chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann by launching a comprehensive booklet that details welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and minority groups.
"These initiatives symbolise Dr Ambedkar's vision of empowering the downtrodden and ensuring that opportunities reach every eligible individual," he affirmed, reinforcing the state's dedication to social inclusivity. He added that the Punjab government, led by CM Mann, was earnestly working to fulfil the dream envisioned by Dr Ambedkar. For the first time in Punjab's history, six Scheduled Caste (SC) ministers are part of the state cabinet.
He also highlighted that reservation was implemented in the Advocate General's office for the first time, and the SC Post Matric Scholarship Scheme was being disbursed in a streamlined, transparent manner, ensuring maximum benefit to eligible students.
