Teen dies in Madurai road accident

Madurai: A 17-year-old boy died in hospital and another riding pillion was left injured after the two-wheeler they were riding lost control and crashed on the roadside while overtaking a bus in Madurai city on Monday. According to police, P Krishnamoorthi alias Sri Ram, 17, was riding the scooty with his friend, S Mohammed Arif, 17, of Sellur in the pillion seat. As they were crossing Cathedral Church on E2E2 Road, Sri Ram tried to overtake a govt bus on the right side but lost control. The vehicle fell over on the side, and the two boys sustained serious injuries.
Though they were admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital, Sri Ram died without responding to treatment on Monday night. Traffic Investigation Wing - II of Madurai city police registered a case and were investigating.
