Mysuru: National Commission for Women (NCW) member Archana Majumdar on Tuesday heard grievances from the public. As part of the NCW at Your Doorstep initiative, the public hearing was organised.
Speaking on the occasion, Archana said the NCW stands as a voice for women who face injustice in life. NCW is duty-bound to ensure justice for such victims, she said. "We launched this initiative to help women come forward and raise their complaints. We are providing them with a platform to get justice," she said.
There are 40,000 cases in the NCW. Our goal is to ensure that women get justice in their fights, she said.
During the public hearing, several women approached the commission seeking help. A woman stated that her husband, who is staying separately, is not giving her money for livelihood and alleged that he is not even receiving her legal notices. Majumdar directed officials to extend free legal help to her.
An anganwadi helper from Ashokapuram, who completed SSLC, sought NCW help for promotion as an anganwadi teacher. Deputy commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy assured that he would look into her demand.
