PUNE: Joint police commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma issued orders late on Tuesday night prohibiting protests in and around Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital.
Many organisations and political party workers staged protests against the hospital administration following the death of a pregnant woman due to a delay in treatment. However, these agitations are causing inconvenience to the patients admitted to the hospital and their relatives.
Police stated that the agitations are being conducted at the entrance gates of the hospital, which blocks the entry and exit of vehicles carrying patients, their relatives, medical practitioners, and others.
Sharma issued the orders under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), prohibiting protests and agitations within the 100-metre periphery of the hospital.
Police mentioned that two or more people cannot gather near the hospital, nor can two or more people enter the hospital together. However, hospital staff are exempted from this rule.
The use of loudspeakers near the hospital, especially near the entrance gates, has been banned. People have been asked to refrain from making controversial statements or slogans near the hospital. The orders will remain in place until further directions, police said.
