Surat: A 23-year-old nurse, Shruti Gonda, died by suicide in a hotel room in Dindoli on Monday afternoon. She worked at a private hospital in the city.

On Monday, she had checked into a room at Valentine Hotel and locked herself in. She called the man she was in a relationship with. The man is from her community and was known to her father.
He allegedly refused to marry her during their conversation on the phone, which may led her to taking the extreme step. After a while time, the man came to the hotel and tried to open the room. As it was locked, he went to the reception and got the door opened.
He found Gonda there in an unconscious state. She was taken to hospital in an ambulance. Doctors there declared her brought dead.
Police checked the hotel room and found pouches of the injectable muscle relaxant, which is usually given to patients before general anaesthesia during surgery.
