23 arrested for cricket betting in Kadapa

Tirupati: Proddatur police in Kadapa district arrested 23 accused involved in cricket betting on Wednesday. Police seized Rs 3.1 lakh cash and mobile phones from the possession of the accused. According to Proddatur DSP P Bhavana, Proddatur I Town CI B Ramakrishna Reddy and team tracked online cricket betting organizers and conducted a raid at Rameshwaram water tank and arrested 18 accused and seized Rs 2 lakh cash from the possession of the accused. The main organizer, Putta Girish, who had previously suffered losses, joined bigbul247.com and recruited about 40 members, provided them individual IDs and organised cricket betting like a chain link. In a second case, police apprehended Sheik Mabusharif alias Chunchu, Pinchaala Janardhan Reddy, Bhumireddy Nagarjunareddy, Vempalli Sudarshan Reddy, and Sriram Subbarayudu while they were transacting amounts earned from cricket betting. Police seized ₹1,05,000 in cash and five cell phones used for organizing betting. All the 23 accused were presented before the local court and sent to remand on Wednesday.
