Salman Khan returned to theatres this Eid, continuing his tradition of festive releases. His latest film,
Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, hit cinemas on Sunday, earning around Rs 26 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office. This figure is lower than the first-day collections of
Tiger 3 and
Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Sikandar Movie ReviewThe trade thinks that this number is low. While one did not expect the movie to cross the Rs 40 crore mark at the box office, a number above Rs 30 crore would have been good. However, it ended up just with Rs 26 crore on Day 1. However, one can expect to see some growth on the Eid day which is Monday. As per the early estimates and numbers till Monday evening, the collection was Rs 14.56 crore.
Thus, the collection of the movie so far is Rs
40.56
crore, till Monday afternoon. The film has been performing well in some Hindi belt mass circults. However, the performance is not up to the mark in centres like Gujarat, according to Box office India. Thus, the Monday Eid holiday numbers will play a major role in deciding the fate of the movie and the collections in the upcoming week days.
