Yuzvendra Chahal's old tweet on marriage being a 'fancy word' goes viral amid divorce with Dhanashree Verma

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer-model Dhanashree Verma have been officially divorced, after the High Court expedited their case and granted the final decree on March 20. Though after the divorce, both Yuzi and Dhanashree have remained focused on their respective professional commitments, the eagle-eyed netizens have brought to attention one of Chahal’s old tweets on marriage.

The X post was shared in 2013 but the cricketer, who back then called marriage a fancy word and an act of adopting an over-grown male child. This old post of Yuzvendra Chahal has gone viral on social media, with people sharing, resharing, taking screenshots, and tweeting about it.
“MARRIAGE is just a fancy word for adopting an over-grown male child who can’t be handled by his parents anymore," read the post.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma tied the knot in 2020. They met through an online dance class, where Dhanashree taught and Yuzvendra was her student. The pictures and videos of their dreamy wedding went viral in no time. After getting married, they collaborated on various projects, and everything seemed simply perfect. However, fate had different plans it seems. They were living separately for 18 months, and recently on March 20, 2025, the couple officially was granted divorce.
“The court has granted the decree of divorce, and both parties are no longer husband and wife," said Yuzvendra Chahal’s advocate, Nitin Kumar Gupta told ANI.
Meanwhile, as aforementioned, the former couple is concentrating on their professional lives. Dhanashree made it to the music charts with her latest song video ‘Dekha Ji Dekha Maine’ on the same day of her divorce. The said a song that explores infidelity and toxic relationships.
On March 21, 2025, Dhanashree made her first public appearance after her divorce. While the paps kept asking her about her personal life, her only response to them was “Gaana suno pehle."
