As ‘L2: Empuraan’ storms the box office, director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran took a moment to remember his late father, veteran actor Sukumaran.

"Achan… I know you’re watching”
Sharing his emotions on Twitter, Prithviraj wrote, "Achan… I know you’re watching. #L2E #EMPURAAN In theatres from today!" The heartfelt post emotionally connected with fans, as Sukumaran was one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest stars in the 70s and 80s. The post was soon flooded with comments. One wrote, “perfect tagline for the ongoing scenerio.” Another one wrote, “All the best, Prithvi! He must be so proud now. Watching it tomorrow, can't wait.” A third one wrote, “U’il hav all the blessing from heaven.”

"I only got my first film because of my surname”
In a recent interview, Prithviraj admitted that he is a product of nepotism, crediting his father’s legacy for his debut. "I only got my first film because of my surname. I’m a complete nepo product," he said in a candid conversation with Pinkvilla. Despite this, Prithviraj has carved his own path as a filmmaker, with Lucifer and now L2: Empuraan solidifying his stature in the industry.

Trade experts predict a ₹80 crore global weekend collection, as the film releases in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu.
Mohanlal, the film’s lead star, acknowledged the overwhelming response with an Instagram post that read: "Right from the beginning … there was one name that’s truly feared. #L2E #Empuraan The silence before the STORM. 50 Crore Opening Day. Thank you all for witnessing the madness!"
