No change in release date! Mohanlal’s ‘L2: Empuraan’ set for March 27

The highly anticipated Malayalam film ‘L2: Empuraan’, starring Mohanlal in dual roles, is set to release on March 27, 2025, as originally planned.

Dismissing speculation about delays, according to On Manorama the makers confirmed that the film will hit theatres as a pan-Indian release across all South Indian languages and Hindi.
Mohanlal took to his official Instagram handle to share a new poster from the movie and penned a note introducing the new distributor for the movie. His note read, “Team #L2E #Empuraan is delighted to announce our association with the trail blazing market leaders Gokulam Movies to bring this magnum opus to the screens. A special thanks to Shri. Gokulam Gopalan for showing immense faith and confidence in our team and the film we have created. 27th of March 2025, EMPURAAN, the 2nd instalment of the Lucifer franchise hits theatres worldwide! Stay tuned for further details!.”

On the last day the makers had also unveiled another poster from the movie, quoting ‘The Usual Suspects’ movie dialogue, “The greatest trick the DEVIL ever pulled..was convincing the world he doesn’t exist!,” which was an indirect reply to all the rumors saying that the movie’s release has been postponed.

Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy, the movie follows the journey of Stephen Nedumpally, aka Abraham Qureshi, with a more expansive global narrative.
The film’s shoot began in October 2023 in Faridabad and spanned multiple locations, including Chennai, Mumbai, Gujarat, Kerala, Hyderabad, and Leh. Internationally, sequences were shot in the US, UK, and UAE.
With music composed by Deepak Dev and high expectations surrounding its storyline, 'L2: Empuraan' is set to be one of the biggest Malayalam releases of 2025. The franchise will continue with a third installment, making this an ambitious trilogy for Mohanlal and Prithviraj.
