No more glamour roles for me : Pooja Ramachandran
VJ and actress Pooja Ramachandran, who was seen in Yathrakarude Sradhakku and Lucky Star, has been missing in action in Mollywood for quite a while now. However, she is busy with a number of projects in Tollywood and Kollywood.
The actress, who sported a glamorous look in the Telugu movie Swamy Ra Ra, says she is tired of playing similar roles and is looking for an image makeover.

“I have mostly been cast as a sexy siren or in sister roles till now. However, I will sport a new look in my next Telugu movie, Adavi Kaachina Vennela, starring Aravind Krishna. After Swamy Ra Ra, I have been getting mostly glamorous roles. But I’m hoping that my next Telugu outing will give me an image makeover. The movie will see me playing a homemaker, and I will be wearing mostly saris in it,” she says.
Pooja also has two Tamil movies in the pipeline —Muni 3: Ganga, and Ore Njabakam. “I consider myself lucky to be part of a huge franchise like Muni — a horror comedy. It also stars Raghava Lawrence and Taapsee Pannu. I play the role of an anchor, who is a drama queen. My role in Ore Njabakam is totally different from that of Muni. I play a mature girl, who thinks and speaks from her heart. I will be paired opposite Adhith,” says Pooja.Ore Njabakam is a romantic drama directed by Vignarajan, and is apparently India’s first 2D high rate frame (HRF) movie, the first one being the Hollywood movie, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
Though only a few films old, Pooja says she is choosy about the films offered. “You have to choose wisely in this industry or else you will get stereotyped. However, I do not want that to happen to me, and I’m looking forward to experimenting with different roles,” she says.
So, will we see her in Mollywood anytime soon? “I am reading a few scripts, but nothing is as challenging as my role in Lucky Star. I’d rather wait for a good role than take up any offer coming my way,” she signs off.
