NEW DELHI: An encounter between security forces and suspected terrorists is currently under way in Marta village of the Ramnagar area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. The gunfight began on Wednesday during a joint search operation.
According to Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, the gunfight broke out after a joint search operation was launched by Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies. During the operation, contact was established with the hiding terrorists, triggering a fierce exchange of fire.

"Two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped at the encounter site. Firing is ongoing," DIG Bhat told ANI news agency.
A similar incident reported in another area of the Jammu and Kashmir. The police saifd that an exhange of fire with terrorists also took place in Chatroo area of Kishtwar.
