Alex Pereira clarifies his relationship with the UFC, reassures his fan about his non-retirement status
The year did not have a great start for the Brazilian fighter Alex Pereira, owing to his title loss to the Russian fighter Magomed Ankalaev. The loss not only cost him the belt but also brought his overall pro-MMA career record to 12-3-0. While talks of a rematch have been doing the rounds across the MMA community, with Jamahal Hill being the latest one to comment on it, a post shared via the X handle of Pereira created sensation with the fans and the community speculating about a possible retirement of the fighter. The post read, “I always answered the UFC’s calls, but if they want to play with me, we can do that. I’ve never spoken poorly of the UFC but with what I’ve just heard I’m disheartened. I’ve already had thoughts of not fighting anymore, and after what was just relayed to me this may be the start.”
While the post sent a wave of shock across the combat sports of MMA, with fans even going to the extent of mentioning the UFC boss, Dana White, for a possible solution, a post shared by the fighter via Instagram cleared the air. The Poatan could be seen clarifying the statements made through the post on X.
“Well everyone, I have received a ton of messages. I have been getting messages from everyone who saw my post on Twitter. I didn’t even know about it, I was hacked. It’s been a while since I have posted anything. You guys see. But I was hacked and I will resolve it. I don’t even know what is going on. I have a great relationship with the UFC. People like to do bad things. That’s that, Chama.”
