“I'm not an angry black man” – Draymond Green shuts down harmful stereotypes after receiving technical foul

Draymond Green has arguably one of the best defensive players in the NBA right now, propelling the Golden State Warriors to victory on more than one occasion. The veteran star, however, has been dubbed as “angry black man” by some fans and media, primarily for his defensive style of play to keep his team competitive in the games. After the Game 2 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Green spoke to the press, responding to the stereotype.The Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green has had enough of the media narrative and fans’ constant criticism.In a recent chat with the press after the Warriors’ 117-93 Game 2 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Green let out all his frustration revolving around his style of play.Draymond Green was hit with his fifth technical foul of the playoffs during the Warriors’ Game 2 loss to the Timberwolves on Thursday night. The call added to an already tough outing for Golden State as they struggled to keep pace with Minnesota.Green asserted his success, education, and accomplishments, making it clear that he takes pride in his work and the path he’s built. Further, he expressed frustration with the narrative that continues to overshadow his achievements, calling it unfair and exhausting."I'm not an angry black man. I'm a very successful, educated black man... I'm great at what I do... The agenda to keep making me look like an angry black man is crazy. I’m sick of it. It’s ridiculous,” Green said.The Golden State Warriors had a rough night on both ends of the floor. Jimmy Butler led the way with 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists in 33 minutes. He shot 6-of-13 from the field and hit two threes but couldn’t turn the game around. Buddy Hield added 15 points with four triples, but his overall shooting sat at just 35.7%.Jonathan Kuminga was one of the few bright spots. He scored 18 points on an efficient 8-of-11 shooting. Trayce Jackson-Davis also impressed with 15 points on a perfect 6-of-6 from the floor. But missed free throws, poor bench production, and 17 turnovers hurt their chances. With Stephen Curry sitting out, the team lacked firepower and fell short due to cold shooting and sloppy execution.Draymond Green played 29 minutes and scored 9 points on 3-of-10 shooting. He made just 1 of his 6 attempts from beyond the arc but was perfect from the free-throw line, going 2-for-2. Green also added 4 rebounds, 5 assists, a steal, and a block, while committing 2 turnovers and picking up 1 foul.
