A constable attached to the Korrukupet police was suspended on Saturday after being arrested by NIB-CID for allegedly supplying cocaine to drug peddlers at Korrukupet two days ago.

Inspector-general of police S N Seshasai, who had successfully handled the parliamentary election process as the IGP (elections), has been transferred and posted as the Tirupur city commissioner of police.

Tiruvallur district superintendent of police, N K Senthamaraikannan, has been transferred and posted as SP of the anti-dacoity cell CID in place of M V Jayagowri.

A two-year-old boy, who was kidnapped in Tondiarpet on Tuesday afternoon, was rescued early on Wednesday in Broadway. The abductor, G Kumarapandian, 28, was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.

The abductors had demanded Rs 1 crore from his parents to release him.
