Fans of Tulsa King have reason to celebrate, as Paramount+ has officially renewed the popular crime drama for a third season. The announcement came after the show’s second season turned out to be a huge success. The series stars Sylvester Stallone in the lead role and is part of Taylor Sheridan’s collection of hit shows on the streaming platform.
According to HT Entertainment Desk, Tulsa King Season 2 became the most-watched global premiere on Paramount+ with over 21.1 million views. It also earned a perfect 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Thanks to this overwhelming response from both viewers and critics, the streaming service decided to move ahead with a new season.
The show follows the story of Dwight “The General” Manfredi, played by Stallone. He’s an experienced New York mobster who, after being released from prison, is sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to rebuild his crime empire. The series focuses on his struggles and efforts to establish control in a completely new and unfamiliar city.
For the upcoming third season, production is set to take place in two locations—Atlanta, Georgia, and Oklahoma. Jim McKay, who has worked on several popular shows before, will direct the first episode of Season 3.
The main cast will return for the new season. Alongside Stallone, fans will see Jay Will, Max Casella, Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Garrett Hedlund, Vincent Piazza, Dana Delany, and Annabella Sciorra reprising their roles. Season 2 also introduced new characters played by Neal McDonough and Frank Grillo, who added even more drama and excitement to the series. It is expected they will continue to be part of the story moving forward.
The production team behind Tulsa King includes some of the top names in the industry. The show is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. Executive producers include Taylor Sheridan, Sylvester Stallone, Dave Erickson, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Braden Aftergood, Jim McKay, Sheri Elwood, Ildy Modrovich, and Keith Cox. Dave Erickson also serves as the showrunner for the third season.
