Tripura pays tribute to Pahalgam victims with candlelight vigils
Agartala: In a sombre outpouring of grief and solidarity, multiple candlelight processions and condolence events were held across Tripura on Wednesday to honour the victims of the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Tripura Pradesh Congress organised a candlelight march in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan in Agartala to pay homage to the victims.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) also held similar events in Agartala, condemning the attack and emphasising the need for national unity against violence and extremism.
In Khowai district, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Tribal Youth Federation (TYF), the youth wings of the Left Front, jointly organised a silent march. The march not only paid tribute to the victims but also raised broader issues, calling for action on unemployment, corruption, and anti-drug measures.
Meanwhile, the School of Science in Agartala held a tribute event.
Principal Abhijit Bhattacharjee led staff and students in observing a moment of silence and praying for the eternal peace of the departed souls. He too condemned the attack and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
