Maxx Crosby makes NCAA history by becoming Eastern Michigan’s assistant GM while still dominating the NFL

Las Vegas Raiders' Maxx Crosby takes on a unique role as Assistant General Manager for Eastern Michigan University's football program, his alma mater. Who says you can’t play in the NFL and run a college program at the same time? Maxx Crosby is proving everyone wrong. The Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher just added a brand-new title to his already stacked resume: Assistant General Manager of Eastern Michigan University’s football program, a place that helped shape him long before he became a household name. And yes, he’s still very much playing in the NFL while doing it.

Maxx Crosby is the first active NFL player to take on a GM role at his alma mater

This isn’t just a feel-good side gig. Crosby is the first-ever active NFL player to step into a major management role in college football and it’s official. He’ll be helping Eastern Michigan scout high school and transfer talent, manage the team’s NIL and revenue-sharing budgets, support current athletes, and work closely with donors and alumni to build out the future of the program.
Basically, he’s not just coming back as a legend. He’s coming back to build something bigger.

To celebrate the full-circle moment, EMU is going full tribute mode: The school’s “LEO” edge rusher position has been renamed the “MAXX”. And their top defensive player will now wear Crosby’s legendary No. 92 jersey. It’s more than a gesture, it’s legacy-level stuff.

Maxx Crosby says EMU changed his life and now he’s giving back in a big way

There is no place more important to my personal and athletic development than Eastern Michigan University,” Crosby said in a heartfelt statement. Alongside his wife Rachel, he’s also making another personal donation to the program to help create more opportunities for future athletes. He wants to make sure the next generation gets the same love and support he did.
Head coach Chris Creighton didn’t hold back his admiration for Crosby, calling it a “full-circle moment” that will have a huge impact on EMU’s recruiting, player development, and culture. He said it best: “How many people have a position named after them? That’s got to be a first.”

While he’s helping EMU build their future, Crosby isn’t slowing down on Sundays either. Fresh off a 3-year, $106.5 million contract extension with the Raiders, he’s already notched 59.5 sacks, 105 tackles for loss, and 144 QB hits in just 95 career games. He briefly became the NFL’s highest-paid non-quarterback before Myles Garrett topped him.
