'Jaat' box office collection day 5: The Sunny Deol film marches towards Rs 50 crore, holds well on first Monday

Sunny Deol's 'Jaat' has shown impressive box office performance, initially earning Rs 9.5 crore on its opening day. The film experienced significant growth over the weekend, particularly on Sunday, with collections reaching Rs 47.75 crore in India by Monday.

Sunny Deol is back with his signature massy avatar on screen which is leaving people whistling and clapping. That's the kind of euphoria which his film 'Gadar 2' had created. This is Sunny's next release after that film which broke several records. Of course, while 'Jaat' cannot be compared to the huge numbers that it made, this film is doing well in its own right and is holding up well at the box office.

'Jaat' inches towards Rs 50 crore

The film which also stars Randeep Hooda and Vineet Kumar Singh in pivotal roles saw a good growth over the weekend. According to Sacnilk, the movie 9.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 14 crore on Sunday. On its first Monday, the film made Rs 7.5 crore. Usually, movies do see a drop on Monday even if they did well over the weekend. Thus, this drop is pretty natural. crore. Thus, it will be able to cross Rs 50 crore on Tuesday if it manages to hold well and make even half of it on day 6. There was Ambedkar Jayanti holiday in some parts of the country, thus, this may have benefitted the Monday numbers slightly.

Competition from 'Good Bad Ugly'

One is aware of Sunny's power at the theatres in the north. However, this film is deeply rooted with the south culture as well and made by people from the south, but i's facing a tough competition from Ajith Kumar's 'Good Bad Ugly' which is now inching towards Rs 100 crore. 'Jaat' can still continue to get those numbers as the word of mouth is positive at the moment. On Friday, 'Kesari Chapter 2' releases and if the reviews are good, then the Sunny Deol starrer may face competition from this Akshay Kumar movie which also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday.
