Chandigarh: Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Monday directed the deputy commissioners to ensure complete recarpeting and repair of roads ahead of the arrival of the monsoon in the state. Saini conveyed this to the DCs while chairing an online and offline meeting of state govt and district officials, which was held soon after the foundation stone laying ceremony of the third unit of Yamunanagar Thermal Power Plant.
While giving instructions, he said the officers should run a special campaign and ensure that all the processes are completed at the earliest. The officers should issue short-term tenders regarding the improvement of roads to ensure the completion before the upcoming monsoon. He mandated DCs to conduct a survey and ensure that the roads are renovated before the monsoon and no road remains in bad condition after June 15.
The CM gave clear instructions that no laxity would be tolerated in terms of quality in infrastructure projects. Special attention should be paid to the quality of every work. Every project should be completed in a timely manner, and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated. He said special repair work of all the roads under public works, urban local bodies, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB), and the concerned Metropolitan Development Authority, Panchayati Raj, and District Council should be completed as soon as possible. He said for the roads whose defect liability period has not ended, it should be ensured that those are repaired by the same contractor.
An upgraded version 2.0 of the GIS-based ‘Harpath' application, developed with the aim of making the roads of the state pothole-free, will be launched by the CM on April 25. In this application, the public will be able to register complaints about damaged roads or pothole-ridden roads in the state, ensuring quick disposal and improvement the roads.
Notably, the CM had announced during the Budget Session that all the roads of Haryana will be renovated in the next six months, following which not even a single road will be found broken.
