BJP launches grassroots outreach campaign in U’khand
Dehradun: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a three-day statewide outreach campaign, ‘Gaon-Basti Chalo Abhiyan,' to strengthen its presence in rural areas, with the upcoming panchayat elections in focus.
Following directives from state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt, party workers are visiting households in villages and settlements across Uttarakhand. The campaign involves cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, and interactive sessions in both govt and public spaces.
Launched on Thursday, the initiative requires BJP representatives—from booth-level workers to union ministers—to spend a minimum of 8 to 10 hours in a single village or booth during the campaign period.
Bhatt took part in several activities in Doiwala on Thursday, where he visited a govt primary school in Madhowala (booth number 150) and the anganwadi centre in Sattiwala. He was accompanied by senior district and local leaders, including district president Rajendra Tadiyal and municipal chairman Narendra Singh Negi, among others.
Bhatt said, "As a political party, it is our responsibility to ensure that govt welfare schemes reach the last person in society. Under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Dhami, Uttarakhand is moving swiftly toward becoming a developed state. Our role is to bridge the gap between the govt and the people."
According to state campaign convenor and BJP vice president Kuldeep Kumar, the initiative includes five key activities: a cleanliness drive at a public place, inspection of a govt institution, community meals with local families, honouring senior BJP workers and political prisoners from the Emergency era, and concluding with a booth committee meeting and village procession with party flags. The final event includes an evening community gathering or chaupal with residents.
