Gurgaon: MCG Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg suspended senior sanitary inspector (SSI) Harsh Chawla on Tuesday for dereliction of duty and poor performance.
The commissioner stated in his order that a notice was issued to the SSI on March 4 regarding his failure to serve notice to the agency handling the city's door-to-door waste collection. Officials said a detailed inquiry into the matter will follow.
Moreover, the commissioner noted several serious administrative lapses, including the SSI's persistent negligence in duties, inadequate oversight of sanitation services, improper record maintenance, incorrect penalty calculations, and insufficient monitoring of secondary challans. The SSI remained unavailable for a comment despite repeated attempts.
"It has been observed that despite the issuance of a show cause notice dated March 4, 2025, regarding the non-issuance of demand notice to the door-to-door garbage collection agency, no satisfactory explanation or progress was reported by Harsh Chawla. In view of the above and in the interest of maintaining administrative discipline and accountability, the undersigned hereby places Harsh Chawla, SSI Zone-111, under suspension with immediate effect, pending a detailed inquiry into the matter. During the period of suspension, Harsh Chawla shall be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules and shall not leave the station without prior permission of the undersigned," read the order issued on Tuesday.
