Jaipur: BJP state president Madan Rathore stirred a controversy after referring to a woman leader from his own party as "export quality" during a public address, prompting sharp criticism from the opposition.
The remark came during a speech at Bihar Day celebration held Sunday night at Mahaveer School auditorium in Jaipur, where Rathore addressed a gathering of members from the Bihari diaspora. "We will also go to campaign in Bihar. The ‘export quality' is sitting right here in front of us. I'll send her there too—will send everyone," Rathore said, referring to BJP leader Suman Sharma, who was present at the event.
The comment quickly sparked a political backlash, with Congress calling it disrespectful and reflective of BJP's mindset toward women.
"Absolutely shameful. Such indecent language towards women reflects BJP's mentality," LoP Tikaram Jully posted on X (formerly Twitter). Facing mounting criticism, Rathore attempted to clarify his remarks on Monday in Jodhpur. "By ‘export quality,' I meant good quality—she is a capable sister and leader. Don't twist my words," he said. TNN
