Trichy: Trichy railway division generated a revenue Rs 1,461.2 crore during the financial year 2024-25 by handling 38.6 million passengers and 14.7 million tonnes of freight.
It is the highest amount of freight handled by the division, earning Rs 827 crore revenue from freight alone.
The highest single-day freight loading was achieved on March 31 with 1,670 wagons, fetching Rs 5.3 crore. Among the commodities transported, coal at 11 million tonnes was the highest transported commodity, followed by food grains at 1.5 million tonnes, and cement at 0.9 million tonnes.
In the passenger revenue growth, Trichy division earned Rs 520 crore in the financial year. The division also earned Rs 42.2 crore from other coaching segments such as parcel, luggage, special trains, and platform ticket sales. Further, it earned Rs 71.8 crore from miscellaneous activities such as non-fare revenue activities, land leasing charges, and sale of unserviceable scraps.
