Vadodara: A man bitten by a snake was carried on foot for nearly 10km in the Narmada district on Saturday. Isidra Vasava, a resident of Chapat village, was placed on a stretcher made of a piece of cloth and carried by the locals on their shoulders. They navigated the rough terrain to reach the main road.
The locals said that their village is located in the interiors of the district and they do not have a motorable road to their hamlet. When Vasava was bitten by a snake, the locals could not afford to wait, so they decided to take him to the main road immediately. Vasava was then taken in a private vehicle to the local hospital, where he is under treatment.
Last year, a pregnant woman died while delivering a baby in Chhota Udepur district because her village was in a remote area and there was no motorable road to take an ambulance to her house. In Feb this year, a baby died due to an alleged delay in taking the mother to the hospital as there was no motorable road in Chhota Udepur.
