Warangal East is a constituency of Telangana Legislative Assembly, India formed after 2009 delimitation of the earlier Hanamkonda Assembly. It is one of 12 constituencies in Warangal district. It is one of the two constituencies in the City of Warangal and part of Warangal Lok Sabha constituency. Narender Nannapuneni of Telangana Rashtra Samithi is currently representing the constituency.
In the 2018 elections, the TRS’s Narender Nannapuneni claimed victory, securing 83,922 votes, representing 53.94% of the total vote pool. This election witnessed a robust voter turnout of 73.45%, emphasizing the constituency’s active democratic participation. Narender Nannapuneni’s win was by a significant majority of 28,782 votes, underscoring the potent appeal of the TRS within the constituency.
The 2014 elections saw the TRS’s Konda Surekha triumphing with 88,641 votes, accounting for a commanding 59.82% of the total votes. With a substantial voter turnout of 74.49%, the election was marked by active citizen participation. Konda Surekha's victory was decisive, with a majority of 55,085 votes, further consolidating the TRS’s stronghold in the constituency.
Tracing back to the 2009 elections, the political landscape was different, with the INC's Basavaraju Saraiah winning with 41,952 votes, capturing 32.66% of the total votes. The victory margin was smaller compared to subsequent elections, reflecting a more competitive electoral field.
