In 2018, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating Kamal Raju Lingala of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi with a margin of 3567 votes. Mallu received 80,598 votes whereas Lingala got 77,031 votes. 11 candidates contested from this constituency in 2018.
Mallu was also the winner from this constituency in the year 2014 and 2009. In 2014 he got 65,135 votes and defeated Lingala by a margin of 12,329 votes and in 2009 he defeated Lingala by 1,406 votes after receiving 59,192 votes.
There are a total of 1,97,403 voters in the seat, which includes 97,615 male voters, and 99,779 female voters. In the 2018 Telangana elections, Madhira recorded a voter turnout of 91.65%. In 2014 the turnout was 89.84%.
