Bhongir is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Telangana and is part of Bhongir Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Bhongir falls in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district and South Telangana region of Telangana. It is categorised as a rural seat.
There are a total of 1,77,599 voters in the seat, which includes 90,463 male voters, and 87,130 female voters.
In the 2018 Telangana elections, Bhongir recorded a voter turnout of 90.53%. In 2014 the turnout was 85.28%.
Pailla Shekar Reddy from Bhongir of Telangana, won the seat with 85476 votes. He defeated Indian National Congress’ Anil Kumar Reddy Kumbam who had polled 61413 votes. The winning margin was 24063 votes.
During the 2014 elections, the seat was won by TRS' Pailla Shekar Reddy who got 54,686 votes and defeated YTP candidate Jitta Bala Krishna Reddy by a margin of 15,416 votes. Jitta Bala Krishna Reddy secured a total of 39, 270 votes.
According to the dates, the polls in Telangana will be held in one phase on November 30 and the results will be announced on December 3.
